BDP-S500

The BDP-S500 is Sony’s current flagship Blu-Ray DVD Player. It's a Profile 1.0 player with 1080p resolution output supporting 24p playback, HDMI 1.3, as well as Sony’s x.v.Colour technology. The Blu-Ray DVD Player physical dimensions are 430mm x 99.2mm x 361mm and it weighs around 5kg. Compared with the BDP-S300, this player is larger and comes with a motorised sliding front panel. The full package includes the player, video cable, stereo audio cable, power cable, and the remote control.

The BDP-S500 Blu-Ray DVD Player delivers Full 1080P picture as well as up to 7.1 channels of surround sound. The BDP-S500 can play Blu-ray Discs, DVDs, CDs, and AVC-D discs. It can also read AVCHD camcorder recordings on 8 or 12cm DVD discs. For DVDs, it can up-scale most DVDs to 1080p quality.

The BDP-S500 can also play MP3 and JPEG pictures in DVD+R/+RW/-R/-RW format. As for inter-activity, the Blu-Ray DVD Player does support BD-Java programming. The player also has a few "Cinema Tunes Picture Presets" for tuning the picture to brightness of the room.

Together with Sony BRAVIA Theatre Sync, the Blu-Ray DVD Player can be used with Sony BRAVIA Televisions. Other features of the Blu-Ray DVD Player are front LCD off or dimmer mode, parental control, and pop-up menu interfacing.
